breastfeeding and ptu

Hello,

I found out I had graves disease in my 9th week of pregnancy, and started taking ptu at 50mg 2x a day.  Now I am 35 weeks pregnant, and my endo suddenly announced I won't be able to breastfeed because it may leak into the milk of my little one.  Everything I have read states that the risk is minimal, and I really want to breastfeed.  I am now working with a pediatrician who said he would monitor the baby closely, if I were to stay on the ptu.

Has anyone out there breastfed on ptu and what happened? Thanks for your help!

Im pregnant and on PTU.  I am taking 50mg twice a day.  Ive been on it for 3 years, I developed Graves with my last baby.  My endocrinologist said it was safe to breastfeed with PTU.   I think a minimal amount crosses into the breastmilk.  A lot of people go into remission from Graves during pregnancy.  Im keeping my fingers crossed for that and maybe it won't come back for a few months afterwards.  We'll see, but I totally plan on breastfeeding no matter what.

I breastfed on PTU and docs told me it wouldn't leak into breastmilk. Baby is 14 months now and thriving.
