From those symptoms you have mentioned, the lack of ability to recite her ABC's etc.. that is typical hypo.. Get your daughter onto some medication as soon as possible. I feel you are getting mixed messages from the doctor. I think you will see a huge difference in your little girl if you just try the Synthroid. Don't worry, it is not going to stunt her growth, or anything horrible, if anything, it will help her! It is a natural replacement for what is missing in the thyroid.
In refrence to my first post, the doctor said that her tsh was normal but that the t3t4 were slightly abnormal. this was the only test that had any red flags. she is no up to 86.3 pounds. We have been told that it is our fault that she is so large. she plays constantly, eats very well, and loves being outside. At summer Camp this year she actually gained weight! She even gained weight after having her tonsils out even though she would only drink liquids for about a week. I do not know what to do. Now her doctor has suggested that we put her on 25 mcg of synthroid to see if that helps even though he feels it is not hewr thyroid. all I know is when she started gaining the weight her attitude changed, had trouble reciteing her abc's, conting etc. er kindergarten teacher says that she is very imature ie: crying at school, won't do her work, procrastinating, etc. HELP!
Did you mean the thyroid tests were normal, not abnormal...if they were abnormal she would have been put on medication immediately.
I wonder if you can go to your local doctor and get them to run the full thyroid function tests...not just TSH....I think you may find she could well be hypothyroid.
I think the endo's remark about having a chunky child is uncalled for.
Get the tests re-done and show us the results as you may know, that what one doctor thinks is normal is actually not normal at all. Many of them have no idea!
Cheers!
