I've learned.  I get copies of *everything*.  I even have a library of my CT and MRIs.  Sometimes it's reassuring to check and see that I actually *do* have a brain.  :-)

If you get all of your tests and labs done at the same hospital you can have the records department give you copies of everything.

Some of us are going to need bigger file cabinets soon!  :-)

My dr always gives me a copy of reports for my records.  You are entitled to  a copy of your records and as pointed out in a previous post, it comes in handy when changing drs, etc. That's how my B-12 deficiency was caught - one dr did lots of testing, but missed the possibility of b-12; next dr saw that right away from all the symptoms, sent me for  that final blood test and voila: I began getting treatment for pernicious anemia and later on thyroid problem.
By all means, don't be shy, ask for a copy!!

The receptionist now after all this time - knows to hand me everything before I leave.

I don't even have to ask anymore - they know.

I always get copies of everything and have it all filed.  Figure drs are only human and can't remember everything particularly they have so many patients.  So I do my best to be an educated patient and work with my drs.

I asked for a copy of my ultrasound and to my surprize, they gave it to me.  It is amazing how you realize you can almost read these things after researching so much on the Web.  Yes, doctors are beginning to be more flexible when being asked for these things.  I simply told them, it was for my thyroid chat line to share!  :)

I get copies monthly of all my records.

Lord knows I go once a month and have to have something done.

My doctor has to see me once a month to make sure all my medical problems are addressed....at least that is what she says. My husband thinks it is all about the money. I can't complain, she usually gives me all my meds as samples...

I always get copies of everything.  That way when I go for the appt. with the doctor, I have the results in my hand and can point out anything I might have a question about.

I always get a copy from my doctor. It's nice to keep track of your own health.

I always get my results either before the visit, (I just call up and ask for them) or at the visit to take home. You have a right to them and by law they can not refuse them to you. Plus they are very handy if you change doctors like I have done a couple of times, really helps the new doctor to see your history rather than them having to take your word.
