hashimitos disease

I was diagnosed with diagnosed with hashimitos disease by my endocrinologist.  My family doctor did a blood test for autoimmune diseases and it came out negative.  My symptoms were swelling of the neck and several breakouts of excessive swelling and a rash, my TSH level was 3.9 and I gained 30 pounds over a 2 year perios.  I have a solid nodule that they are watching.  I have been on levothroid for 5 months now. Since being on I have soreness on the bottoms of my feet and extra soreness in my joints, I have increased energy (somewhat) and have gained 5 more pounds.  Does this sound consistant for Hashimitos disease?  I am thinking maybe I should be on a vitamin supplement.  HELP!

My last Free t4 and TSH test were done almost 3 months ago.  I am going to endo on the 4th of Nov.  I am assuming she should do new tests.  This is so new to me.  She does not review tests with me-just tells me I am good.  So I guess I should request to view the results.  My DO went over my initial tests thoroughly with me.

Thanks for the info.

You should get tested for Vitamin D, B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, selenium, and calcium.

There are several thyroid antibodies. You should see which ones you have been tested for.

Is your TSH closer to 1.0 now?
When was the last time your Free T4 and TSH were tested?

Yes you need vitamins. They are good for you. Go to a health food store and get get some. I would aslo recommend magnesium which I have to go and get refilled.

...u should have ur vitamin and mineral levels checked.....and if I remember correctly the nodules, found with ultra sound do indicate hashimoto's...everyone gets different symptoms..some get all that's listed for hashis, some get symptoms not listed....

I am new to having hashis myself, but there r many here well informed that may be able to answer ur questions.

Good luck
