heterogenous thyroid nodule

My daughter has been diagnosed with heterogenous thyroid nodule 2 cm L thyroid lobe. Does this automatically mean cancer? She had lab tests that were normal and an ultrasound that showed the nodule. She is scheduled to see a surgeon for a biopsy. Her throat is sore, and swallowing is a problem as she feels it in her throat. She has moods swings and with medicine it seems to help the mood swings.

No it doesn't mean its cancer, most noduals are not and so many ppl have them..Try not to worry and it is the usual procedure to biopsy any over 2cm. If it turns out ok they still might take the nodual if it is causing her problems..

Why would it automatically mean cancer?  That's why they do a biopsy.
