Very High TSH

In 6 months my TSH jumped from normal to 111.5, T4 from WNL dropped to 0.35, T3 remained WNL. I knew my thyroid was abnormal because of heart palpitations, but certainly not that abnormal. Any feedback on reasons for such a sudden change?

You should do some research on iodine and Hashi's.  Iodine is often contraindicated with Hashi's and can actually exacerbate the autoimmune reaction.  You've still been taking your Levoxyl while taking the Iodoral, correct?

My endo maintains that it doesn't matter if your TSH is 8.0 or 80.0.  If it's 80.0, it just shows your pituitary is working well.  When it's too high, it's too high, and we don't feel well, but there isn't necessarily a correlation between HOW high it is and how bad we feel.

Thank you for your comments. That makes me feel much better.  I made an appt for next month with the ENdo I went to awhile back; so I'll get it back under  control, I'm sure.

I do have neck pain but I also have HNP of C5-6 with radiculopathy, so other than that, just the usual hypothyroid symptoms-- heart palpitations, hair loss, constipation, get cold easily. That's why I knew it was time for a thyroid recheck. My symptoms aren't that much worse than when my TSH only went up to 8.0

Yes, my TPOab shows I've got the AI Hashimotos Thyroiditis along with Sjogren's & other AI issues. I've been on Levoxyl for years & my Nutritionist said to try Iodoral, so for the past 4 months I've been on that. I've had episodes where my TSH has climbed to 8.0, but I had pretty much the same symptoms as I do now. So, that's why I thought the lab made a mistake. My doctor told me to get right in to see a Endocrinologist, so I did make an appt for next month.

Have you had antibody testing to see if you have Hashi's?  Hashi's can take years or even decades to destroy your thyroid function, or it can happen in just a few months.  Hashi's is the most prevalent cause of hypo in the developed world.

TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) and TGab (thyroglobulin antibodies) are the two markers for Hashi's.

Has your doctor started you on meds?
