hypothyroid and gland swellings???

Dear All,
Recently diagnosed hypothyroid- TSH was 15 and doc hasnt told me waht the T3 or T4 was just that I was seriously underactive. He has started me on 50mcg Levothyoroxine which Ive been taking for ten days -he plans to take blood test in another eleven days and then probably increase my meds in line with my results. Now my questionis does hypothyroid cause swollen glands? I have swollen glands in my neck (above swollen thyroid!) and also pain under my right arm pit and down by elbow area at times. Recently I had a lump appear on my right groin which I initially assumed was a boil but it wasnt and it gradually dissappeared of its own accord like my body was gradually disintegrating whatever this was. All these symptoms are on my right side ( the side where most of my thyroid issues seem to be -swollen thyroid on right side- joint issues right side, carpal tunnel syndrome right wrist). I do feel slightly better with the meds already and have lost 5lb in those ten days, energy level a bit better and joint pians less, but then I began to notice these swellings and I just wonder if this is all related??

I will mention all this to the doc when I speak to him next but just wanted to see if others had experienced similiar issues?? is this likely to be the thyroxine working?? or do I nee dto get back to doc quicker than I plan??

Dear 898,
thanks -yep that was my kind of thinking -that this was probably to do with thyroid issues- just to add a further mysterious symptom I also tend to have inner ear pain (feels very much inside) when these other symptoms bother me- more in the evening.

So would that swelling of the thyroid cause my galnd under my arm to swell as well as my neck?? it all seems little less swollen this evening so maybe this is getting better with the treatment. So many questions!! sorry.

         Thanks for your thoughts 898.

                       Love Manxie xx

Just speculating: the thyroid swelling on the right side constricts the lymph duct causing the glands to swell
