New here - advice needed please

Hi, I was researching thyroid issues, and why my doctors will not listen to symptoms, and came across These posts.  I really truly believe I have hypothyroidism, but my doctor says tests are normal.  I just went to an endo today, thinking and hoping this would finally help, but she looked at the labs from my doctor, and said everything was normal.  I told her all symptoms and asked her if she could take bloodwork today, and she said no, the levels don't change.
I really need to figure this out.  I have always been sooo exhausted (even when I get a full nights sleep or a nice nap, I wake up groggy and sooo tired, NEVER refreshed), cannot lose weight despite a great diet, dry skin, slight depression which seems like its worsening lately, constipation, just "blah" all the time, get sick easily, really foggy memory (I used to have a really great memory, crystal clear).  The only way I lose any weight is when my dr prescribes me phentermine.  We do not eat fast food ever, eat tons of fruit/veggies, don't keep sweets here, and yet I always feel sluggish.
I am 30 years old, and have 3 kids that I can not keep up with anymore.  Two of them are under 2, and I end up crying lately because I am so exhausted.  Drs tell me its just the stress of having little ones.  This is NOT the same type of exhaustion.
Is it possible to need meds even with this "normal" bloodwork??  Why won't any doctors listen to me?
I requested a copy of the labwork which should be in my mailbox today or tomorrow.  I will post the numbers.  Does anyone know of a doctor that will actually listen and treat based on symptoms and not just the bloodwork??  I am in central NJ.  Please let me know of anyone you think might be able to help.  I cannot keep feeling this way!!! My family is def suffering.

Thank you for the help.  I am still waiting for my bloodwork results in the mail (I was told they were "normal" but I asked them to mail me a copy).  I do remember they said that the TSH was 2.28, and that they did a T3 uptake, not a free T3.  I will post the results as soon as I have them.

Dr. Borenstein is recommended on Mary Shalom's top thyroid doctors website. I sent that website to thethinme (she lives in NY) a while back. I read her journal and she is very happy with him.

Hello there,
I have seen Drs just like that.
One of the things that I do now is use healthcheckusa.com to order my own labs. You pay on-line and go to the nearest lab that you are sent to and then your results are emailed to you.

I get a Free T 3 and Free T 4 along with a TSH test
Then I go with report in hand to my doctor or another one that will listen or try to work with me. I also  (as you can see a post posted on this forum) discuss everything about lab results etc with this forum.
There are some wise ones on here!!

I decided to take more control over my well being and because of it....I have been feeling better then when my doctor just went with the TSH.

Learn how to read your tests...write down all the symptoms you can...
Get knowledgeable about your thyroid...

Others here will give you good advise as well.

Do you have a copy of your labs?? Posting them on here will help others help you. Also post the reference ranges as well.

It is very difficult to find a doctor who will listen to the symptoms and not the test results. If the test results are within normal range, it's hard to get the doctor to listen. They do not understand that "normal isn't always normal".

My suggestion is to educate yourself and be your own advocate. If you do not feel well and you think that you may have a thyroid condition, you just may. Keep researching and learn from people on this site who are also in your shoes. Do not allow the to say: It's not your thyroid because that may be false. If you have to switch doctor's in order to find one that "half way" listens, then you may have to do that. We know our body and will be well aware if something is not right. Do not give up.
