It doesn't matter what range she goes; the range isn't going to change the number and the number is too high.
You have 2 very similar threads going, and I've already responded to the other one.
This past week burning in chest and throat. Lips feel burny and so do eyes. my doctor said my tsh is 5.5. I don't know if she is going by old range of .5 to 5.0 or new .3 to 3.0
What, if any, symptoms do you have?
Over 10 yrs ago, the AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists) recommended that the range for TSH be changed to 0.3-3.0, but most labs don't abide by that and doctors simply go by the lab range.
Your level at 5.5 is too high. But more important than TSH are the actual thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Is your doctor checking those or just going by TSH?
TSH is a pituitary hormone and doesn't always reflect actual thyroid hormone levels.
