miserable with hypothyroidism

Hello,
My question is regarding hypothyroidism and hydroxycut. I've ordered the Hydroxycut Instant Drink Packets and i'm wanting to know if they would potentially interact with my thyroid medication. I'm currently on 175 mcg of levoxyl. Also, i'm 21 years old and miserable with my weight. I exercise daily and eat help (i'm vegan) and nothing seems to help. My weight has jumped up to 156-165 lbs at 5'6.  i'm always tired, lacking energy overall, and depressed. Thanks for any suggestions that you may offer ahead of time.

First you need to talk to your doctor about switching to name brand it does matter with thyroid medications. Next hydroxycut will not affect thyroid medication unless taken within 3 hours of each other. I would suggest the capsules of hydroxycut max for women as they will work the best. My thyroid is barely working at all for 9 years. I take the new hydroxycut with no complications and as long as you keep the weight loss slow it will stay off I have gone off hydroxycut for in 2-3 month intervals and during my time off my weight stays the same or I loose a couple more lbs.

You've attached to a very old thread and the original poster is no longer active on the forum.  It's not true that one must take a name brand thyroid medication in order to do well.  I, actually, did better on generic levothyroxine than I did on Synthroid.

None of the weight loss stimulants are safe.

"They are known for causing cardiac arrhythmias, headaches, urinary retention, anxiety & depression, renal insufficiency, sleep disorders, and fatigue."

I don't think you should take Hydroxycut with thyroid meds.  I was told by 3 different doctors (an ENT, cardiologist and gastroenterologist), as well as some of the people on this forum,  that when the thyroid levels are stable I would be able to lose weight.

My last doctor visit was in Jan with an endocrinologist and he said basically the same thing.  Based on the latest blood work, he lowered my levo dosage and added cytomel to my regimen (TSH was very low, Free T4 right on target, with Free T3 low normal).  I will have new bloods done around the 27th of this month, so not sure what the numbers are going to be, but I feel so much better, have enough energy to get through the day (I get up at 3:30 am and was crashing around 9:00 am).  I have also lost a few pounds and as soon as I kick it in gear and start exercising again like I should, I feel reasonably sure I will be able to get back to a reasonable weight - I'm 5' tall and currently at 143-145; was at 148-150.

You might try keeping a food journal just to be sure that you aren't eating more than you think you are.  Also, how about checking out the Weight Loss and Dieting Forum - there are tons of good ideas that might be helpful.

BUT - first and foremost - you need to get your thyroid levels balanced and that will make a lot of difference.  I felt like I was beating my head against a brick wall, now I'm actually believing that I just might be able to make it back to "pre-hypO" weight.
Good luck.

Doesn't hydroxycut contain ephedra? If so, I believe that ephedra does not mix well with Thyroid medications.  Sorry but I haven't heard very positive feedback about Hydroxycut, and it is one of those stimulants, where after taking for a while, if you "deviate" even a little from your diet, the lbs come back very quickly. I know this because I've seen this happen to two of my friends, who cautioned me against using it. Please also be extra cautious if you start getting palpitations, or sleep issues.

On another note I've known people who have lost lbs by taking green tea pills as well as CLA.
Anyway, best of luck to you.

Maybe you need re-assessing with your thyroxin dosage?
While the thyroid levels are unstable, it will be very hard to lose weight even with a dietry supplement.
I would research as to what is in this product as it may aggravate the thyroid more.
