Do you know if you have Graves Disease? Not all hyperthyroidism is caused by Graves. Do you know if you ANY autoimmune disease?
An autoimmune disease is one in which antibodies attack and eventually destroy the thyroid gland. Hyperthyroidism is most often connected to Graves Disease, while hypothyroidism is generally connected to Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. It is possible to have both Graves and Hashi's.
It's also possible to go hyper if you have Hashi's, as the thyroid often "spurts" too much hormone making you go hyper for a period of time; or sometimes there are nodules present which can leak hormone independently of the thyroid and can not be controlled.
It would be good to have antibody tests done to see what you are dealing with. You will need Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab) to test for Hashimoto's; and Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) to test for Graves.
If you do have an autoimmune disease, you will always have it.
thanks, i am gonna try the natural supplements ,but where can i get the pure form of lemon balm and L-carn. . and yes, i haveGravesdisease.
thanks, yes i have graves disease, but i am not convineced that they made the right diagnosis for me,i would defietly get a second dr, opnion. but one dr, alreday told me that i have graves. thanks for ur help.
You can get L-carnitine anywhere, but the lemon balm/lemon grass, you'd have to go to one of those health food-organic type places. It will last you a very long time!
As an aside, please don't throw aside conventional medicine, it has it's benefits. I would never suggest to anyone to NOT take an ATD, unless the T3&T4 are elevated.
