natural remedies for hyperthyroidism

I want to try curing or managing my hyperthyroidism naturally.  Does anyone have suggestions for what supplements I can take?  At the moment, I take evening primrose oil, vitamin C and I eat lots of peanut butter because I read somewhere that it is a goitrogen (inhibits thyroid function).

Hooray!!! Yes it helps! I KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW there are natural cures to every illness we face! It is just that most people WILL NOT stop feeding their faces!!!  And changing our lifestyles which most likely means trusting in God and getting the rest that our body needs..That is the bottom line! We must eat to live and not live to eat! God knows our bodies inside and out, our bad thinking patterns etc. By the blood of Jesus, we have the victory in every area of our lives! I am taking 5 tablespoons of organic extra virgin coconut oil, changed my diet completely. I am not eating any grains or sugar. God has led me to do colonic irrigation and coffee enemas...I am juicing cruciferous vegetables and already in the last two weeks my heart rate has been reduced from the high 90s to the low 70s. Sometimes even in the high 60s...and I have just begun! My God will lead me to everything I need to do! Glory to the name of Jesus!!! I feel great!!!

This actually was working ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY...It's just that my life became so stressed that I wasn't able to keep up the regimen...:(  I finally had to throw in the towel and have a thyroidectomy. I wasn't able to keep up the juicing, coffee enemas etc...if I could only be wrapped up in my OWN healing and not have to do anything for anyone else...after several years, I am sure I could have healed entirely because the large goiter WAS shrinking. I waited too late and the road to recovery for me was too long for me to stay...

Your comment that, "Remember that all autoimmune disease occur if you have problems in your GUT", is a pretty sweeping generalization.  If I may ask, please provide references to scientific evidence for that conclusion?

There is a cure for Hyperthyroidism. since i have been diagnosed that i have hyperthyroid i have searched for a long time for a natural remedy. I have lost 40 ibs and my heart rate are so fast even i am just sitting or lying down on my bed. I have found out that every autoimmune diseases are caused in our GUT, If you have any problems like a leaky gut or any sorts of problem in your stomach then you have a good chance of having any autoimmune diseases such as hyper or hypo etc.

Things i took  to heal my gut as well as my Hyperthyroid:

1, Bone Broth
2. Probiotics (higher the good bacteria the better)
3. Selenium  200 - 300 mcg per day ( to eliminate any metals in your body such as cadmium or mercury and regulates your thyroid gland)
4. Magnesium Citrate 600 mg a day (for my palpitations)
5. Lemon Water - taken after waking up in the morning
6. Bovine Colostrum - this is the most important thing to take for your hyperthyroid. take 3 to 6 capsules a day and you will feel a big difference in your body after  2 weeks.

I am just sharing this because i know how it feels to have a hyperthyroid. I didn't take my doctors prescription since i have read in some forums that it did not cure their hyperthyroidism so i just research myself on how to cure it naturally.  Remember that all autoimmune disease occur if you have problems in your GUT.

Now i feel great!! No more palpitations, i gained weight, no more fatigue, No more feeling of nervousness and breathlessness.

Hope this will help you !!!

I have to admit up front that I am biased in my belief that "natural" is not always better than what we produce synthetically.  That said, when I read the following post from a member with hyperthyroidism, I cringed.

"I am now taking a combo of bugleweed, lemon balm, motherwort and passionflower extract, for the last 60 days, and truthfully, I have NO symptoms (from those listed as typical hyperthyroid ones).  However, my recent blood test showed TSH levels of 0.01 and Free Thyroxine 6.1.  Hmmm.  The doctor says it's the end of the world.  I feel just fine."

I would want to know how the member really felt after about 6 months or longer on that regimen.  With those test results, I seriously doubt she continued to feel good, unless she like feeling hyperthyroid.  In the words of redheadaussie above, "Let me explain something to you in a really nice way...there is nothing that can 'naturally cure' hyperthyroidism. The thyroid is a very complex little gland and works with the pituitary gland to help us live a wonderful life. When it starts to fail either hypo or hyper, sadly there is really nothing the 'alternatives' can do to provide for it."

I seriously doubt that we know anywhere near enough about natural remedies, or how much should be taken, or how they actually affect hyperthyroidism.  Even less so with a child.  I think I would go with the procedures approved by the AMA and regularly used by doctors.  Don't you think that a natural remedy in her case would be too unpredictable?

I'm joining this feed after my 7 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This makes sense as her general behavior has greatly changed in the last couple of months and her blood tests prove the cause.

We are nature people - we really prefer to avoid processed foods and drinks and medicines when possible (meaning we don't rush for the aspirin when we have a headache, but will take a cold pill or two when really suffering from a heavy cold). Natural remedies are always our first thought.

Since she is a child, does anyone know if these natural remedies suggested here are suitable for her? How can I gauge the amount to give her? I will be visiting a Pediatric Endocrinologist specialist and am looking for a really good natural healer - our main guy just moved :( . Any tips until these meetings would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to get in on this as I was just diagnosed with hyper as well and am freaking out. I've battled my weight all my life, OVERWEIGHT!!!! So I was completely surprised when they said I have Hyper. I was trying to find out if I was Hypo. So the reason why I am freaking out is because I don't want to GAIN weight. Which could on the methimazole. So opinions on weight gain on methimazole? Any info would be appreciated.
