pain from thyroid nodule

I am 19 and due to have the left side of my thyroid removed on the 29th of this month because of a few nodules one of which is quite big.  Occassionally my thyroid gets a bit sore especially if i sing or yell or swallow big tablets.  Nurofen helps with the pain although I have to stop taking nurofen 10 days before surgery...what else can I try for the pain??  Before surgery I cant take asprin based medications and I am allergic to anything with codiene.

Thanks! :)

Hi Laura, thanks for the ideas, next time it's acting up I'll try putting an icepack on the thyroid area.  Tylenol isn't available for sale here in Australia so I'll try the icepack and see how that goes...thanks again, Natalie

How about Tylenol Arthritis....that is what i take. Also it will really help to use icepacks over the thyroid area.
