I agree with Totie... everyone is different.

I am about 9 days post op.  The op was a breeze for me too - the worst part was the drain removal as far as I was concerned.

Since my op is only recent, I am having good days and bad, not much discomfort and will be back at work next week - 2 weeks off for my surgery.  My op was about 4pm last Tuesday and I was allowed to go home on the Friday, they removed the drain on the Thursday.  I am in Australia... not sure where you are.

I am struggling with the whole emotion thing but that is quite normal for any surgery let alone a TT.

If you want to ask anything else from me, go for it.  I know what it's like to feel alone on this stuff and am more than happy to share my experiences.

Big hugs your way

Well first of all, everyone is different in "reactions, healing, side effects", so take this with a grain of salt.

The surgery itself was a breeze, no issues from "surgery itself". A lot will also depend on the surgeon. Mine was great & you can't even tell I every had the surgery. I had issues but mine was due to graves/hyper/toxic goiter (long story).

I was out of work, but NOT due to the surgery itself. The return of work will depend on your release from the surgeon & your doctor & in how you feel.  Some peopel go back after a week off, others have issues & it can be longer.

The patience of adjusting your dosage will be the testing of your patience. So be patient...

I have not had any issues when I had my surgery (16yrs ago). I do take medication & will for life, but the surgery DID NOT alter my life in any way...Still a mom & wife, & work full time..I do get my TSH checked once a year when I remember..
