What about my baby did having this hurt her. She seems fine st 6moths old, but what would would i look for. She is overweight. at 24lbs but would hashi's do anything to her?
I feel like a hypo- I have Stomach cramps, Muscle pain, joint pain sick to my stomach, Tired all the time foggy thinking and very forgetful, my voice is very hoarse and i have a puffy face and throat feels swollen like theres something stuck in it not sore. I sometimes feel like my throat is closing up, I gained 60 lbs with my pregnancy and she was born in January a healthy 9lbs.3oz and i have only been able to lose 30 so far. and I have been on a really healthy diet. My hair is falling out everytime I shower I pullout clumps. And brushing it it evern worse. Ive been wearing it in a ponytail to help leave it alone. And diarrhea which does'nt fit the profile. My concern is that maybe these tests are not the right ones to warrant this medication. Or that I may be taking too much. My first visit to this doctor she gave me antibiotics Ciprofloxacin 500mg tabs 2 per day for 7 days. for my diarrhea and referred me to a gastro doc which is gonna do a colon and stomach endoscopy. on monday and told me to stop the antibiotics. My oldest daughter has type 1 diabetes. And my aunt had chrons and my cousin has addisons. I hope Hashi's is the answer and that these pills are the right ones and they work. But is 150 mcg too much to start with? And what about the antibodies who knows what that means could high antibodies be anything else?
Robin,
I read your previous post. That you have only just started out with levothyroxine. My previous answer had assumed you were already being treated and the TSH of 7.7 was already taking 150 mcg of thyroxine.
I don't know what dose of med you will eventually need. However, it is usual to start off with a much lower dose and to build it up slowly. 25 mcg or 50 mcg, with testing after 6 weeks would be more appropriate. Then the dose can be increased, if necessary and based on how you feel.
The problem with this much med is that you may end up hyperthyroid if the dose is too high. This is the other end of the scale from what you have now.
The absolute dose of meds doesn't tell you anything; whether it is too much or too little. The blood work and how you feel will direct the appropriate dose.
hi,
your TSH is still high (and 2 is an ok target). Your FT4, although it is in range is at the very low end of the range, you would want it at least the middle of the range (around 1.2 or a bit higher), so no, it is not fine. You can and should still increase your meds to get the TSH down. I imagine you would increase by 25 mcg of levothyroxine and then test again in 6 weeks.
How do you feel? Do you have symptoms of hyper or hypo? Let us know.
With high antibodies this would be hasimoto's.
