There is a very strict protocol that is supposed to be used when a stim test is done.
Were you fasting? The test is supposed to be done as close to 8 am as possible, since that is when levels are highest. Also, they should draw a baseline ACTH, not just a baseline cortisol. The ACTH should be put on ice immediately and spun--or it will throw the levels off.
the first draw should be at 30 min---the second draw should be at 60 min--there is an hour between your first and second draw.
Also, you need to know what the test is looking for specifically---some look for the levels to double, some look for the levels to go over 20.
Your test does not look like it was done correctly.
Your starting cortisol level was extremely low----so the big rise at 30 minutes is not surprising---but I don't know the significance of the second draw since it was done and hour later instead of 30 minutes after the first draw.
Secondary adrenal insufficiency increases lower baseline cortisol double, triple, quadruple; however, greater than 14 fold increase in 30 minutes has been reported. The lower the baseline cortisol the more likely it is that cortisol will increase by a large amount.
I think you may have posted on the wrong forum. This is the forum for thyroid patients.
