swallowing and ear discomfort

I have been having a strange feeling in my ear. Not pain just feels full. I have had this feeling on and off for over a year.  I was once diagnosed as having vertigo (no testing was done) she said I had no fluid on the ear drum, so it must be the inner ear (vertigo).  But now I woke up yesterday with the feeling again and the feeling like somthing is stuck in my throat (left side again).  I honestly thought that maybe is was just allergies until reading this forum.  Now I am concerned about my thyroid.  I made an appt for tmrw morning.

I also have GERD, but have not had any problems.  I get a biopsy done every year for that and actually had good news from my last scope.  So I really don;t think it has to do with my GERD.

If it is my thyroid, what are some of the side effects of having it removed or medication that is given for this condition.

Im in the dark and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
Lori

Just a long shot to throw out to both of you...

The Eustacian tube connects the ear to the throat.  If it becomes clogged due to upper respiratory infection or allergy, it can give the feeling you describe.  Have either of you tried a decongestant?  As a child, I had a very stubborn Eustacian infection that went on for months.  I guess they didn't have the meds back then that they have now because I just had to wait it out.

Just a thought...
