Best bet is to have doc order TSH,FT4 and TSI(thyroid stimulating immunaglobulin) and Anti Thyroglobulin. These can give hima good idea if something is abnormal.List your symptoms-fast heartrate, anxiety, losing weight and heat intolerance are big.Somtimes Graves disease can be subclinically diagnosed but usually TSI is always positive .Hope this helps:)
TYVM... The reason I'm concerned is they (my PAs) are telling me that my (severe) upper abdomen pain is "probably" related to the Grave's Disease, since they've checked and ruled out the liver, pancreas, ulcers, hernias, spleen, appendix, ovaries, kidneys, blatter, esaphaugus, and other gastric problems/complications, and cannot find any other possible answer... it seems to me as though they've "pawned it off" onto Grave's Disease.
I will ask for a TSI. Do you happen to know if a TSI is drawn like the TSH and T4?
TSI antibodies. You should have zero. Don't listen to the docs that tell you ''as long as it's under the ref range, blah blah blah, nonsense. You should have zero antibodies. Since your nodules have been ruled out the only other cause is graves. I have graves, and am doing just fine. It's not as scarey as it sounds.
