THANKS FOR WRITING . IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT IN THIS MODERN AGE THERE ARE NO DEFINITE ANSWERS FOR THE DISEASES WE ARE CONFRONTED WITH NOW ...ITS ALL ABOUT HORMONES POST MENAPAUSE. I CALL IT THE MISSING LINK . I COULD UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL BET643 -- ALL THE TESTS AND SURGERIES DROVE ME NUTS TOO.I REFUSED THE CHEMO AND THE PILLS I HAD MASCECTOMIES AND THAT CHOICE DROVE THE DOCTORS NUTS . IT'S 4 YRS. NOW AND THINGS ARE OKAY EXCEPT FOR THE BONE PAIN WHICH IS ARTHRITIS AND THERE IS NO MED FOR THAT EITHER BUT PHYSICAL THERAPY DOES HELP AND AQUATHERAPY.
I WISH YOU BOTH WELL AND I HOPE WE CAN CONTINUE TO CHAT .
There are a lot of studies that show a correlation between breast and thyroid cancers. They are both hormone fed cancers too. Just like there is a correlation between thyroid problems and PCOS (just a few of my issues)
Bone pain is another issue. Those who on high levels of thyroid replacement meds, are post menopausal, and are not on hormone replacement therapy lose large amount of bone mass. That's why bone density studies are so important (and Calcium with vitamin D) for us. I'm also on Boniva.
If you haven't had a bone density scan (either nuclear or DEXA), get one. The nuclear bone scan is also good to see if there is anything that may have metastasised to the bone (which was a concern for me - turned out to be a micro fracture).
When it rains, it pours - eh?
I have also thought about this many times. however, my first time with breast cancer was at age 18. My thyroid cancer was at age 49, but have a problem with breast again. I am suppose to be taking tomoxifin but have yet to go to the oncologist. I don't want to go through this again. I will not be a lab rat or part of their study which they get paid to do. Whenever I mention about the relationshiop between breast and thyroid cancer, the response was "NOT REALLY". So who knows? I am on 150 mcg of Synthroid and I get bone pain too. I thought I was crazy and maybe I was just the lucky one to get both cancers. Feeling tired is always a problem and heart palps are another. I'm more worried about get colon cancer, since that also runs in the family. I did have a colonoscopy though and that was fine. It is so hard when you have nothing but symptoms and no answers.
