Thanks, LM -
The only other test done so far was a TSH and the result was 0.940. Not sure if that helps answer your questions. But your note was helpful.
I wont even try to pronounce your handle.
Aloy, as you already know these antibody tests confirm Hashimoto.
Hashimoto is an autoimmune inflammation disorder, so far of unknown origin. The primary and only specific symptom that most Drs recognize is the destruction the antibodies have on the thyroid gland, making it produce less hormone. Hopefully on the future we will know its cause. There currently are theories pointing at the digestive tract, that where some think all autoimmune disorders develop.
For further insight it would be helpful to post your Free T3 and Free T4 with their range values. Being in range but low, will result in symptoms in most people. Its not like there is this one decimal point where all of a sudden you will then have symptoms. Its gradual. So is the range in its reflection to symptoms.
If your sister is informed, then you can learn from her. But then again you came here for a reason.
OK. Do you have any more symptoms? The list is huge , Google them.
Most people with Hashi start to gradually go hypo as their FT 4 and FT3 begin to drop and the TSH goes up. Some (few) people in the beginning have a sense of hypo and an swing to hyper on occasion - just days apart.
99% of DRs will prescribe Synthetic Levothyroxie (very affordable) which you will take daily. Its really not medicine, its replacement thyroid hormone that your cells consume as fuel.
T4 is the storage hormone that is converted to T3 (the hormone your cells need). Some people do better with additional synthetic T3 and some (very few) use natural dessicated T4/T3 combination therapy.
Its important in the future that you learn where in the Ft3 and FT4 ranges you need to be to feel optimal. After reading thousands of comment on this subject, and in my personal experience, once your on thyroid replacement Free T3 in the upper third of the range helps most (not all) people feel optimal. Remember, we are all different, so this is some you will need to learn in the future.
In addition to replacement hormone many people do take other supplements as needed to help with their specific symptoms. And some adjust there diet if they find some food groups do not agree like they used to.
