understanding test results

i had most of my thyroid removed due to hashimotos disease, with many nodules found in and around vocal cords.  My last TSH was 1.16 and six months later it is 1.72.  I haven't had my T3 and T4 done yet but will soon.  I am always tired, dry skin, my memory is terrible and i have weight gain and cold all the time.  The doctor says its my age (45).    When i get my blood test results back what is the normal rage for the TSH, T4 and T3.  I went to see a naturapath and she agrees i have many symptoms of being hypo and thinks i should be on medication but my doctor is not open to trying.  Is there any danger in trying medication just to see if it helps.

Your TSH is normal, but in your case with symptoms it's very important to check your free T4 and free T3. Without these values you shouldn't try medication, first get those results, then your doctor will see if further analyses are required. I would check also anaemia (Hb, ferritin, transferin, iron in serum, folic acid , Vit B12) and a full blood count.
