Abdominal pain and bloating

For almost a year now I have been having problems with abdominal bloating and pain.  I had gall bladder surgery 4 months ago and it seemed a little better at first. I have consistent bouts of diarrhea where I go 5-10 times a day.  When I go to the bathroom, I cannot get it to stop even though it feels like I do not need to go anymore. I have seepage that constantly comes out for about 5 minutes after each bowel movement.  I also have sharp pains in my lower right abdomen.  I have had a colonoscopy but they say it is normal except for some areas of extreme inflammation.  The colon wall is smooth and edematous in these areas.  I have a strong family history of multiple types of cancer although no one in my family has ever had colon or rectal cancer.  My father did have a disease that caused him to bleed from the rectum and he had to have multiple polyps removed and capillaries cauterized.  What could be causing this and should I be concerned?  My doctor tells me everything is fine but I am worried about my health.  I have gained a significant amount of weight mainly in my abdomem especially in the upper gastric area.  I am tired all the time no matter how much rest I ger.

Having your gallbladder removed can cause many of your symptoms. Have you tried changing your diet accordingly? Many times, eating fatty foods after gallbladder surgery can cause the diarrhea because your body can no longer digest fats. I would suggest doing some self diagnosing by going on a fat free diet for a few weeks and see if that helps. If it does, then you know it could be your diet. If that doesn't help at all, then you need to go back to your doc. There is a medication you can take to help with this after this type of surgery. Good luck and hope this helps.
