All of this happening at once...

I am a 29 Year old male, relatively healthy except for acid reflux.

I went to the doctors in the fall for abdominal pain that lasted a month orso.  At first the doctor thought it was diverticulitis, but after many tests and being on anti-biotics, there was no trace of diverticulitis.  When the pain went away after a while, the doctor said it was probably just IBS or a virus in my intestine that had passed.

I have felt fine since November, and suddenly a couple days ago the pain came back again.  I didn't panic, figuring it was IBS or a virus again.  Since then, yesterday morning I woke up with pain in my neck.  At first I figured they were unrelated and thought I just slept the wrong way on my neck.  I was okay through most of the day and the abdominal pain subsided.  But in the evening my neck started hurting more and I also started getting a minor headache.  The ab pains were very slight and I concentrated more on my neck and head.  Plus I also realized I had a loss of appetite.

So basically as of today my neck still hurts, slight headaches and loss of appetite.  I keep checking my temperature, and there is no sign of fever.

I do have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning, but I am hoping to maybe get some insight before then.

Thank you, ahead of time.

PS.  I dont know if this is related but before this started happening I have been on Prilosec for a couple weeks.

Hi.  I have had the same problems at first.  All started 3 months ago.  I have posted questions on here also.  Check out my questions and see if you have any matching symtoms.  Stomach pains have subsided for the most part but still have lots of pain in neck and back.

Good luck with everything

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
This can be a side effect of Prilosec which is a good medication to treat acidity, IBS, GERD etc. Hence you can stop this and see if your symptoms subside. There are other medicines available which you can try.
“GERD symptoms are often relieved by over-the-counter, acid-reducing agents called antacids. Common antacids include

    * Alka-Seltzer
    * Maalox
    * Mylanta
    * Pepto-Bismol
    * Riopan
    * Rolaids

Other drugs used to relieve GERD symptoms are anti-secretory drugs such as H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors. Common H2 blockers are

    * cimetidine (Tagamet HB)
    * famotidine (Pepcid AC)
    * nizatidine (Axid AR)
    * ranitidine (Zantac 75)

Common proton pump inhibitors are

    * esomeprazole (Nexium)
    * lansoprazole (Prevacid)
    * omeprazole (Prilosec, Zegerid)
    * pantoprazole (Protonix)
    * rabeprazole (Aciphex)”

Please discuss with your doctor about trying a combination of medication. Stop Prilosec and see. Keep a stress diary to see if a particular food causes more problems than the other. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
