swollen tonsils

So recently i had oral sex with my partner and like a day later I developed a cough. I've been coughing for about a week but today I noticed that my tonsils are swollen and i noticed 1 white spot on one of my tonsils. I got tonsilitus (sorry don't know how to spell that) when i was 16 and ever since then when i get sick my tonsils are the first thing to act up. They swell up and they hurt. This time they don't hurt but they are swollen.

Tonsils that have white spot/s on them is a typically a good indicator that you have an active infection of some kind going on.  They can appear with viruses as well as bacterial infections and occasionally with STD's.  Are you able to bring up any colored phlegm/sputum when you cough?  Do you have an elevated temperature?  Do you have any burning/pain in your chest or in your upper back?  Do you feel run down and tired? Have you tried gargling with warm salt water 4x per day since the appearance of the white spot on your tonsils?  I would suggest making an appointment with your primary care provider and be sure to include the oral sex in the information, so that all appropriate cultures can be done on you!  Good luck!
