Been trying to find out what's causing my fiance' so much pain...

So, this has been going on for almost 3 years. He started having kidney stones and we tried everything we could think of. He changed his diet, cut out pop, etc, and nothing changed. He kept getting kidney stones, but they were always small, and everyone told us there was nothing they could do.

His pain started as side pain, but started blossoming into lower back pain and pain on both side of his abdomen.

He goes to his PCP, who sent him to physical therapy. They tell him that because he broke his knee when he was 16 and had to have it restructured or whatever, that his left leg is a 1/2 longer than his right leg, that's what's causing his back pain. He went to physical therapy for a month or two, and there was no improvement, the pain just started to get worse. He finally gets a physical with his PCP and he refers him to a hernia specialist, who then diagnoses him with having 3 inguinal hernias. He has surgery and gets these removed.

After recovery, he said the pressure in his back was gone, but the pain is still there. Some days it's worse than others, but he's still incapable of standing for more than 10 minutes with out being in severe pain. He barely sleeps, and when he does, he has to push himself to the point of exhaustion because he can't lay in any position comfortably to sleep. We've been to a urologist and a gastroenterologist, he's has so many scans and tests, from CT scans to a colonoscopy, and they all have come back pretty much normal.

He went back to his PCP for a check up and the guy told him he needs to lose weight and exercise. He's not overweight AT ALL, literally. He's really upset and he thinks that everyone else thinks he's lying. I just can't stand to see him in pain like this. Any ideas?
