Brown spotting virgin

I am 21, I’ve never had sexual relationships and I’m worried I’m having spotting (5-7 days) with brown blood and clots between periods. I don't think it’s a true period as its only spotting (doesn't even fill a pad) even though it lasts about as long as my real period. My regular periods are moderately abundant with bright red blood , clots and strong claps (enough to interfere for a few hours with my life, not enough to be hospitalized). My last period was about a month ago or less (don't have the exact date). This old blood spotting happened before my last period as well. The only information I can find on the net with “old blood” seems to relate to pregnancy.  I'm not on the pill and not taking any vitamins or medication. I’m worried this be dangerous… I would be thankful for any information.

Hello,

Brown spotting in virgins can be due to hormonal imbalance which can occur under stress or change in surroundings or PCOS (polycystic ovarian disease). Most often a brown discharge represents breakdown of blood products.

Other possibilities are hypothyroidism, uterine fibroids and cervical or uterine polyps.I feel that an examination and ultrasound uterus along with hormone study will help in confirming a diagnosis. This can be done by a gynecologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your child is doing or if you have any additional queries.
