Burning Pain in back!!!!!!!!

I have been having these burning pains on both sides of my back right below my rib cage. I told my doctor and he did some blood work and it was normal. So he sent me for an MRI and it showed that I had some disk problems down near my tail bone. Could these disks be causing pain higher up in my back ? Someone said it mjght be caused by IBS.

Hi
Since the burning has come on and off, chances of herpes are ruled out—wild shot that there is a recurrence.
Wrong posture causing muscle strain, kidney stones, pancreatitis and acidity should be ruled out. Disc problems, canal stenosis, osteoporosis etc all cause this type of pain—but the spinal problem is located well below the area of pain. Hence cannot be the reason for it.
It would be a good idea to consult a sports medicine specialist once if all the above listed possibilities have been ruled out.

I've had the burning pain off and on for acouple of years now. My doctor never said anything about herpes zoster. I've had CT scans and MRI's , wouldn't it show up something on one of the test ? Thay have all comeback normal except for the bad disks and so has all my bloodwork the last couple of years. The only thing I had was some high colesterol, which the doctor put me on pravacol 40mg and my colesterol is now 166. And he said, my trig. and good and bad colesterol were all right where they should be. He said, my bloodwork was beautiful.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
A herniated disc can cause pressure symptoms at levels below the herniation. It cannot cause symptoms higher up.
The burning pain that you mention looks more like pain of herpes zoster. Usually the pain starts prior to the appearance of the rash.
The other possibility is pancreatitis. Stomach ulcers and some kidney stones too can cause pain in the thoraco-lumbar area.
You can discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
