Can sudden abnormally low body temp be caused by Blood Pressure Meds?

My body temperature has gone down to between 96 F & 97.3F since I've been on blood pressure meds.  My normal body temp had always been 98.5F unless I was ill. Now I don't know what my normal body temp is anymore? Also I've had a severe bout of Vertigo approx. 3 wks ago with nausea & vomitting & feeling really weak and unsteady on my feet. Dr. has been treating me prescribed antihistamine tabs of 8mg 3 times a day which helped a bit with the vertigo, but still having "woozy" feeling and an unsteady gait when I walk - which is a very unpleasant & sickly feeling. Went back to my Dr. who changed my antishistamine Med to another kind  20mg once a day - which I've been taking for the last 3 days........still not much difference???  I'm starting to wonder if the
high blood pressure Med I'm on may be the cause of this sudden change in Body Temp & this severe bout of Vertigo & so on that I've been going through??? Can someone with proper knowledge advise me on this problem?

Hi Bee222.

Some observations:

1. Amlodipine , most pertinent to you, side effects.
Often: dizziness; muscle-, stomach- or headache; dyspepsia; or nausea.

2.Factors involved in  Low blood pressure can create HIGH blood pressure over time.  There are a few possibilities. See #3, as a likely one.

3.  Low thyroid function, due to deficiencies or any other cause, may bring about a rise in Cortisol (to make up for the low thyroid function), which in turn raises your blood pressure.

4. Low thyroid function is associated with CONSISTENTLY below 97.6 F temperatures and actually it is the best diagnostic test* for hypothyroid!
And it can affect ANY part of the body presenting any symptoms from vertigo to fatigue, digestive issues, rising cholesterol, chronic low grade depression and on and on.
Standard Blood tests for Hypothyroid  (TSH mainly, T3 &T4 sometimes)
are totally unreliable if the thyroid hormones-showing at normal levels in the blood- don't work IN the cells (Thyroid hormone resistance) !

Bee if I were you, I would go to an Naturopathic Doctor in Niagara Falls area, who is knowledgeable in Thyroid dysfunction, as you meet the
"realistic" diagnostic criteria, not the conventional medicine "established criteria". You can do with less agony and suffering, I'm sure!
I have 2 family members, who have gone through years of being undiagnosted and misdiagnosed, because of the HUGE gaps and holes of the medical system. I think I can write a book on this, lol!

*For more info just check online "Dr. Barnes basal temperature test".

There may be other possibilities, however, this one stands out to my opinion.

Please note that this is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Should you need any further details, please post again or pm me directly.

Best wishes.
Love & Light
Niko

I know the high blood pressure meds can cause dizziness which can probably cause nausea and vomiting. I know my vertigo causes me to get nausea and I can't stand up. I don't know about the low temperature though. Have you asked the doc if it is inner ear or whether it can be caused by the bp meds? I would talk to the doctor that is prescribing the bp meds. Are they new bp meds or did you recently change the dose on them?
