Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Generally flashes, streaks of lights and star bursts are due to floating vitreous and less commonly due to aura of migraine and or retinal detachment (this must be immediately ruled out by retina specialists). Nothing can usually be done for this (floating vitreous) and patient has to learn to live with it. A migraine type called retinal migraine comes with these flashes only in absence of any noticeable headache. Please consult an eye specialist immediately. Take care!
Can also be migraines- even without pain.
Hi. :) I've seen little sparks of light in my periphery for years now, but my eyes are always open. Sometimes I see flashes of purple as well. I do have my eyes checked yearly and there is nothing 'remarkable' they said. For comfort, I refer to the lights now as 'Angel lights.' Works for me. :) ♥ Very comforting too. All you can do is have your eyes checked regularly.
