Cut from shaving on labia majora

About 3 or 4 days ago, i was shaving and accidentally cut what i believe to be the labia majora, but very close to the labia minora. It was a small knick and didn't hurt much but bled a very small amount for only a minute or two after showering. That night, i proceeded to have intercourse with my boyfriend (we choose not to use condoms because i am on the pill and we are strictly exclusive). There was no pain or discomfort during intercourse or immediately after. Much later the next night i started feeling quite a bit of irritation, the cut became painful as well as itchy. The night after that, i woke up twice in the middle of the night because of the painful yet itchy irritation. I also since then have had a few bumps around the area, mostly around the "veneris mons" or where the majority of pubic hair is, as i got terrible razor burn the same day that i accidentally cut myself. It seems that the bumps are from the razor burn and possible ingrown hairs? And i can't imagine them being anything to be too concerned about as they don't hurt or itch. I have been putting vasoline on the cut but still have itchy painful discomfort more often than not. I am concerned about how to safely treat this problem and i am desperate for any advice as it has become quite distracting. please respond with any thoughts!! thank you so much!

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!

It is difficult to give advice without examining your cut, its exact location and other related symptoms and signs. Also it appears you have swollen lymph nodes. Hence I would advice you to see a gynecologist. Amongst what options you provided Neosporin is the best choice. Corticisteroid should be avaoided as the infection may flare up with them. Any anti-inflamatory over the counter tablets and creams should help. Keep the area clean with betadine solution. However this advice may backfire or may help as it comes without examining you.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

So my next question is what would be better to treat this with. I have several options; vagisil, cortizone or neosporin. i was told by my roommate that vagisil would probably not be good for a cut? but i figured it would be good considering the itching and burning that the cut is creating. Cortizone helps with the itching and i think would also help healing? And neosporin is obviously for cuts. What do you think is best??? Thank you so much for your help, it is so greatly appreciated!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Labia majora and minora are both highly sensitive areas. They will burn a lot if there is abrasion or cut. Until this heals I would suggest you use condoms for protection. Also you can apply vaginal antibacterial creams for the lesion to heal. It would be more advisable to abstain from sex until the lesion heals.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage, without examining you. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Oooh ouchy, i feel your pain sister, it's happened to me before.  Try putting a cool cloth on the area to alleviate any swelling.  I would then either use a vagisil cream or a vitamin E ointment.  I usually don't have the specialty creams around the house so vitamin E ointment does me well.  It takes a few days for the cut to go away but that area usually heals itself fairly fast.  I dont have much advice to give unfortunatley but, I really think cold cloth to sit on te area would do you well, it will take away the itch because if your scratching its just gonna make it worse.  Also for the razor burn, taking a terry cloth with some of that tend skin will help, and salicylic acid on the ingron hairs will help that,  Either that or you can put a hot compress to open up the pores and then take some tweezers and a needle to carefully remoce the hairs.  I hate shaving down there!  Hope you get better soon.  I feel your pain!
