Enlarged Spleen

I have an enlarged spleen, for the last 10 months. I have had one CT Scan and two ultrasounds. The last one I had said that I have moderate Splenomagley. My spleen measures 16.3cm right now, and I have already seen a blood and cancer doctor, to rule out cancers. Mine has never went back down to it's original size, it just keeps getting bigger. My NP said that she is referring me to a gastroenterologist (Don't know if I spelled it right or not). But basicly I have to prtect that area. I have pain there and have been so tired for a while now, but I am anemic. I have been nauses for a while now, I can even feel my own spleen. I can not find out how big they will let it get before they do something. My NP asked me that today, how big will they let it get, I said that is what I was going to ask you. I am scared and frustrated and do not know what else ro do. Anyone with advice please give it. Thanks for your time and may God bless you all!

I am going to the PCP today. I went to the Hemotologist. All she did was do some blood work on me. CBC, B-12 level and an iron level. But my PCP said that it might not do any good to go back. So I will see what he decides to do today. He said that they might have to take it out. My side has been really hurting since yesterday, everytime that I have to bend down it really hurts. Plus now my muscle spasm is acting up, I can't even lift my left arm that much, cause it hurts if I do. Also I have this spot on the back of my head, it hurts really bad, but I do not remember hitting it though. It is strange. I will keep you posted about what the PCP says. Please everyone keep me in your thoughts and prayers

I would recommend just getting it removed.

Prayers to you.

Yeah I know, I am going to talk to my PCP about it. Cause my boyfriend is going on vacation this summer for 2 months to visit his daughter, and I am afraid that something will happen and he will not be able to get back in time. Plus there will be on one to take care of my after I had surgery, cause my mom is suppose to have surgery some time soon to replace her tricusps valve, she will be down for a long time. Thanks for the prayers, just keep them coming please. Will let you know what happens. Thanks for all your advice... I am hurting right now so I am going to get off her now, it has been bothering me the last couple of days. I am thinking about going back to my PCP and just talking to him about going ahead and getting it taken out now, before my bf goes on vacation. And I start working alot of hours at my job.

I don't think another trip to the Hemo. will be of any help.  It is possible to be seen by an ID, Infectious Disease Specialist?  You need that spleen out.

Oh my, you just started a new job too?  I wish that you had gotten your spleen out before you started the new job.

Praying for your dear; hang in there.  :)))

Yeah I already seen the hematologist, but my GI doctor said that I needed to go back and see him. I have an appoinment May 9th, that is the soonest that they could get me in. I just started a new job, now I am worried that something will happena nd I will have to be off work, I don't want to loose my job. It was really hard for me to get this one. But My PCP said that they might have to take it out, if they can't figure out what is causing it to get bigger and not smaller. My PCP also said that I have already been to the hematologist, he don't know what good it will do for me to go again. But I after I see the hematologist then I have to go back to my PCP. Please keep me in your prayers. Is there anything that you can think of to suggest to me Hematologist or my PCP?

Oh, sorry I have not talked to you in a while.  Sorry to hear things are not better.

Haven't you seen the Hematologist already; didn't he clear you?

I would recommend getting that spleen out asap.  I am not sure the cyst situation is that significant.

The only other thing it could be is something infectious.
