Serious hair loss and headaches

For the past 5 months or so I have been suffering with severe headaches daily (the type that kill when you walk or move). I have had dizzy spells the last few days. In between all this I have been losing large amounts of my hair which is really worrying me as I have always had thin hair anyway. Also I have been getting very 'hair sore' which I have never had in my life. This is really ruining my life, I don't want to visit my GP as whenever I have been in the past I am patronised and made to feel as though its just nothing. I am only 19 years old and I am starting to get a little worried as it is getting worse. If anyone knows what this could be or helpful ways to prevent it that would be a great help.

Thankyou so much for your comments.

I have started taking vitamins in the last 2 months as I thought the same thing and I don't eat much meat. But so far this hasn't really helped. My diet isn't wonderful nor is it the worst, and its strange how it suddenly came on me when I have had the same eating habits most my life. I definately don't drink enough fluids everyday but I do try to most days, and I only tend to drink either water or tea.

I have also been stressed, but only the same stresses most people have...money, home, relationship etc.

Also been told I have low blood pressure but it was merely a statement, nothing came of it and that was about 2 years ago.
I don't use computers very often nor do I really watch more television.
I think I will reluctantly give my doctor a visit, for the simple fact that tonight I am really suffering and can't handle it much longer. Hopefully it is something and nothing. Alls I want is some relief as I refuse to take painkillers as in effect they can make headaches worse after prolonged use.

Many many thanks for taking the time to comment, it really means alot.

You do need to see a doctor.

You are experiencing very painful headaches, feeling dizzy and losing your hair.

The doctor should send you for a scan of your head, take blood tests for any abnormalities, check your ears for any infections and check your blood pressure.

Alopecia can be brought on by worry and stress, but as you are experiencing the other symptoms, it all may be connected.

Dizzy turns can be from inner ear infections that controls the balance.  Very high or very low blood pressure can make you dizzy and give you headaches.

Straining your eyes can also result in headaches, so it may be worth getting your eyes checked out.

These may be migraines and not connected to the hair loss.  If you are on the computer for a long time and glaring and staring at the screen and are overtired that can cause migraine headaches.

My advice is for you to make an appointment with your doctor.  Make a list of all your symptoms so that you do not forget any of them.  It is better to be checked out and told that you have nothing serious, rather than to carry on regardless.

The sooner you see your doctor, the sooner you will be able to receive appropriate treatment.

Hope you get on OK.

Best wishes.

How terrible that you are suffering this way!  Are you taking any vitamins?  They are so essential nowadays considering we eat modified foods.  (Food Inc. - watch the video)  And are you dehydrated?  Are you drinking enough water?  MSM comes to mind as it helps the hair follicles - so you grow new hair.  Magenesium deficiency also causes many problems.

Eating right and taking vitamins and supplements are so much more important now.  Our food is being modified - to produce more of it - but it is less nutritious so we don't get the vitamins and minerals we need from our food as we did "back in the day".

Headaches can be caused by dehydration also.  Not saying you are, but it's possible.   I take calcium, CoQ10 and Vit. B6 for my migraines.  Don't know if it would help your headaches - but it's worth a try.
