Hello,

Some symptoms of viral infection of the abdomen like in viral gastroenteritis may prolong for some time(10-12) days after treatment of infection also. This is due to effect of virus on the stomach causing its irritation.

Since it happened after a viral infection,so causes could be dehydration and decreased amount of minerals like sodium and potassium in the body.It can also occur because of hypoglycemia or improper sleep during the infection.

Sipping clear juices, weak tea, and some sports drinks help replace lost fluid and minerals without irritating the stomach. Food should be reintroduced gradually, beginning with small amounts of dry, bland food like crackers and toast. If still the nausea persists then you can take medicines like ondansetron (Zofran) or Meclizine (Bonine).

If the symptoms persist then other causes of nausea like GERD,gall bladder disease, gastroparessis and IBS have to be probed.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,

I am glad that you have posted here.

GI disorders with diarrhea or vomiting or nausea, can make one feel tired and weak, after the injury.

This is due to the loss of water and electrolytes from the body.

This may also be due to the changes in the lining of the intestine, which is undergoing repairs and therefore does not help as much.

You must drink lot of water with salt and sugar in it. Further eat simple foods and fruits.

Hope this helped.
