Strange Symptoms and Serology

For just over 9 months I have been suffering from oral pain with no cause to be found. The pain started as a burning sensation in the upper left gumline. Normally centralised to one location. Recently the pain has moved to the tongue and other side of the mouth as a tingling or pressure in the low and upper jaw on both sides. As well as these symptoms I am find it difficult to concentrate, have low mood and energy and have had a flare up of eczema (for the first time in 20 years).

I've also developed carpel tunnel on the left and very dry lips.

I've had a number of tests done:

CMV - positive on all tests conducted over the last 9 months. The IgM levels are still high but the avidity of the IgM suggests past infection. PCR of blood negative.

EBV - Again, positive since this all began. Both IgG and IgM are still positive and high. PCR of blood negative.

ANA, Anti Ro & Anti SLA - Negative

Lyme - Very Strong Positive C6 Elisa, Negative Western Blots (twice - cross reactivity)

HIV - Negative

Gluten Antiboties - Negative

Fullblood Counts - low WBC (borderline neutropenia 1.8)

CRP/ESR - normal

Liver and Kidney function - Normal

MRI of brain and spine (none contrast) normal.

HSV mouth swab - Negative

As a result of the 2 positive lyme elisa tests my rheumatologist put me on a course of Doxycycline (100mg 2x daily for 28 days) and Cefuroxime (500mg 2x daily for 28 days). I've been told I have TMJ as well but another oral surgeon claims I haven't.

And to muddy the water, I've just been told I've a retained root in the place where the pain first started but that pain cannot be referred to the opposite side of the face. I'm having this removed in two weeks.

Should I ask for an MRI of my trigemina nerve?

What could be causing all the "false positives" and subsequent nerve pain?

Help.

Hello, Yes, I would ask for the MRI, also, I would see a chiropractor. You may have some misaligned vertebrae in your neck and upper back, these can cause the symptoms you are having as well. The chiro will take some x-rays and will be able to determine what area is causing the problem. A few adjustments should have you on the road to recovery.
