Feels like hunger pains

I have had a dull pain below my ribs for 5 days that feels like hunger but doesn't go away when I eat! It began with intense pressure but now is only annoying, and I don't want to over eat. Any idea what it could be? Someone said this happened to them for a month before their appendix burst, or I read something about gastritis, and I did drink too much alcohol last week, as I had visitors.

It is in the very center, directly below where the ribs join. I will try to get to a doctor asap.

First, you do not say what side the pain is on.  It makes a difference as the spleen is on the left, appendix, gallbladder and liver are on the right.    Appendicitis can hurt on the right lower quadrant or right around the belly button.   Your gallbladder can hurt below the ribs on the right and the pain can go through to the back and up to the shoulder.  Can be intense or uncomfortable.
If the pain is on the left and your spleen is affected, it could be a symptom of Mono.

At any rate, you need to see your doctor.
