Ideas/Opinions

I am 21 year old female who is studying abroad in Spain. I have been here for a little over two months.  I usually have breathing difficulties.  Not only am I a smoker but I have always been susceptible to bronchitis and sinus infections. I am not over weight, I have of average weight for my height. Lately my breathing problems have been more severe.  I find myself almost gasping for air/ taking very deep breathes in order to get enough air.  Also I have been yawning to try and get more air.  I am a bit concerned about this. I have also developed new symptoms that mostly come at night while I am in my room.
Chest pressure sometimes pain
Shortness of breath
Congested nose but no mucus
Dry mouth and constant thirst
Head ache
Sore neck and back
Fatigue
Muscle fatigue
Dry skin
Stiff joints
Swollen glands near my jaw/neck
Excessive yawning

should I be concerned about this?

There may be multiple causes for your symptoms.  But if you suspect house mold has anything to do with it and you are still living where there may be mold, I hope you can take a positive step for yourself pronto by finding a healthier place to stay while you are abroad that doesn't look like any mold lives there and doesn't smell musty!

The very first thing you require is an emergency albuterol sulfate inhaler. As of yesterday. Then consider an electrical powered albuterol inhaler machine. Foradil should also be considered.

The people who die from an asthmatic attack are those who experience minor problems and don't take them seriously.

You need that emergency inhaler!

All episodes of "Air Hunger" must be classified as life-threatening.

These attacks of "air hunger" can definitely be life threatening.

The propblem with a pulmonary function test is that when you go for the test you may appear to be absolutely normal.

You need a work-up, which includes a cardiac work-up and stress test. Certain problems with the heart can cause all of these symptoms. You are a bit young for these kind of things, but they cannot be ruled out.

Yes, you should be concerned.  It seems like you have been having asthmatic attacks. Don't let this go on without a full medical evaluation.

Could this be caused by allergies or exposed to house mold?

Yes.  You should go to a doctor, get a chest x-ray, ask for a pulmonary function test.  They probably will want to check your heart function and do other tests too.
