Honey take that bug to the Dr an let them see what is going on! If you travel outside the USA it might be anything! Don't take chances some of these parasites are dangerous.
I have not been able to see the picture, but by the description it sounds like it may be the black carpet beetle, June bug, or bed bug.
Hi Jack! From Liverpool?
I checked the photo from the link you posted and I cannot make out much as it is rather blurry, so I believe you need a much better close-up shot to capture this insect with all its details.
One thing you may want to do is do your own comparison, as YOU know what it looks like.
The most offensive insect bite is the Borrrelia tick bite (Lyme disease) which you should rule out.
It would take about 24-36 hours for the Borrelia bacteria to transfer, before you can become susceptible to its infection.
You can search online for Lyme tick bites images to do a comparison.
Ticks are arachnids, they should have eight legs. They should also have a flattened, tear-shaped body and no eyes.
Also look into bed bugs.
Bedbugs are small, flat and have oval-shaped bodies.
Check you mattress and bedding very thoroughly and if traces of bed bugs are found quarantine the room and call your local public health authority
for advice.
I don't mean to alarm you, but in these cases it is good to err on the side of caution.
Another insect that comes to mind is louse (head lice) specially if you're hairy around your abdominal area.
One thing you should consider doing though regardless of your search results, is to wash all linens, covers, clothing you have used in the last few days in the hottest temperature the fabrics allow (same thing when drying) and do not use them for the next 10-14 days.
This is a precaution, to avoid unwanted possible complications from any nits, eggs and nymphs, that may be laid there. Some of them are smaller than the smallest grain of sand you can imagine, or the size of the head of a fine pin!
Let us know how this develops.
Best wishes.
