Hand sore and partiallyh swollen

Two days ago I was helping a friend move some cabinets and we were picking them up to move them.  I did not feel any pain in my hand while doing this, however later in the day my middle finger was hurting at the base, like under the fleshy part of the palm side of the hand. The next day that area was sore and swollen.  It still is swollen today and still hurts when I make a fist.  When I make a fist, I can tell that my hand is swollen because it feels fatter then it used to... plus hurts.
What do you think I did to my hand?  Will it clear up on its own, or should I see a doctor?

Sounds like your bruised your finger lifting heavy things.  I've had bruises like that before - they went away without any doctor.... just soak it in Epsom salts in warm water.  Then in cold water to bring down the swelling. -

If you can make a fist and move your finger, it isn't broken.
