Is there any treatment for severe bowel spasms

For most of my like I have had severe instestinal with vomiting,  cold sweats, and extreme weakness.  These attacks last from several hours to a couple of days.
I am desparete.  I feel like my life has been stolen.  In addition I have advanced diverticulosis and have had three small obstructions, one of which required surgery (6 inch small resection.
Also I have congenital Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. a history of two types of Thyroid Cancer, Sjogren's syndrome, and Fibromyalgia which two doctors called severe.
I sorry for the lenghthy material, but I felt my medical history might me pertinent,. There is more, but I didn't feel it was pertinent.
Thank You,

Stephanie

I am on Bentyl for intestinal spasms.  There are several other meds for spasms as well.  Belladonna is another, hyosciamine (sp?)

Have you asked your doctor for hycosamine or neulev?  They use it for IBS, it seems to help with the cramps but Im not sure about the spasms.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Since you have advanced diverticulosis with intestinal obstructions, there is a chance of another obstruction. Apart from this you will have to get yourself investigated for IBS, Crohn’s, celiac disease and other food allergies and intolerance. Chances of gut infection due to food poisoning too is there but less likely. Please discuss this with your gastroenterologist. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis. Antispasmodics are available but should only be taken under medical advice.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
