Kidneys & liver

I went to the doctors a couple of months ago with pain in my back and side. She examined me and said my kidney was inflammed on right side. Went back 2 weeks later she said it was still inflammed but not as much. I went for an ultrasound scan on Wednesday of my kidneys. I got a call yesterday asking me to book at appt with doctor next week and was marked as non urgent although she wants me to have a LFT (liver function test) blood test.
I am so worried. Could this just be protocol with kidney problems or could the scan  have shown liver problems? Surely my doctor would have felt if liver was inflammed and not kidneys? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thankyou for reply.
If something serious was wrng with my liver they should have seen it on untrasound right? Also my doc should habe felt something as she said originally it was kidneys she could feel. Well they took urine and just tested for infection ehich there wasnt but they didnt send it to lab which i thought they would to be honest.

Did you get tested for a possible kidney infection?  Maybe they don't see anything on the kidney scan so they're checking liver function just to be sure.  I have had pain in my liver before (I have two different kinds of cysts) and it didn't go around the back.  It was only in the front just behind my lower right ribs.

The fact that your follow up is not urgent is a good sign.
