Left groin pain

I am a 40 yr old female and I have been experiencing pain in the left groin area.  The pain is between the femoral head and the adductor muscles within the soft tissue.  I do not have the pain all the time but when it comes the pain is sharp and I can barely walk.  Sometimes I can go day's without any pain and then the next day the pain is back.  Sometimes the pain will last all day or sometimes just a few minutes in the day.  The pain comes out of nowhere and almost always when I am stand up and walking.  I am very active and never remember injuring my groin area.  I do not feel any lumps.   Any thoughts.

It could be a bursitis or a strained ligament. There are a lot of structures in there that can cause this kind of groin strain.

I'd assume you may have pulled something and it's recovering.   I'd try loosening up the hip joint to see if that improves things / speeds up your recovery.

My favourite routine for that is to lie on my back, legs bent with feet on the floor.  Grab one leg and shift it around in one direction a half dozen times, then the other direction.  Repeat with the other leg.  [I find this lengthens my stride so I can walk faster.]  Might do nothing for you but I think it's something harmless to try.
