Liver Hemangiomas & Spots on Kidneys

I had a fibroid tumor removed last year - it was growing onto my bladder and caused a lot of pain.  Ever since it was removed, I been having additional issues with blood in urine, frequent back and abdominal pain, swelling (everywhere) and headaches.  I had a CT scan of my liver and kidneys to which they found 3 5mm hemangiomas on my liver and 2 spots on my kidneys.  I went to the ER on July 9th - they thought it was a ruptured ovarian cyst. My OB/GYN said it was not a cyst and she found blood in urine. I then went to a Urologist who said that he could not help me and he also found blood in my urine.  My primary care physician said he cannot help and suggested I see a General Surgeon.  What is wrong with me?  These doctors ignore me because I'm young and I think they feel I'm exaggerating the pain, but I am not.  My life is put on hold because of the pain.  All of these doctors say the bleeding is not normal, but none can figure it out. Any ideas?  I do not understand why I need to see a general surgeon.  Is that because they want to cut me open and explore?

The hemangiomas on your liver are small.  They are considered benign.  They are called tumors but are collection of blood vessels.  You need to find a urologist who knows what they are doing.  They should be looking for stones, infection (I assume they did at least that much?), interstitial cystitis, and more (see PM).

Also, when they cut out the fibroid, did they see no indication that you had endometriosis?  Endometriosis can grow into the bladder and cause blood in the urine as well.  Are they checking your blood iron and ferritin (iron stores)?  Even with a normal CBC, it's possible to have symptoms of iron deficiency- I did.  One symptom of iron deficiency can be headache.  Have they done any hormonal testing, like estrogen, FSH, etc., with your fibroid problem and swelling to see if your hormones are off balance?

Also, regarding your swelling and spots on your kidneys- did they refer you to a nephrologist?  Did they do a 24 hour urine protein test?  Did they do blood testing for kidney function and to get a GFR (glomerular filtration rate, calculated to see how well your kidneys are functioning)?  I hope your kidneys are not failing causing this swelling.

Have they made sure you are not having congestive heart failure and your salt level is right concerning your swelling all over as well?

A general surgeon is not alway bad to see- that's who is following me up for my liver hemangiomas with imaging and has shown concern about my pituitary tumor and got me a recommendation for an endocrinologist.  He's ordered tests and hasn't done any carving or cutting.

Dani,
I think you need to go to a major hospital, one that specializes in Cancer treatment.  They tend to pay more attention to blood in the urine.  Blood in the urine is never something to ignore.  I can't imagine why your urologist couldn't help you.  Absolutely do not let the first thing you do be exploratory surgery.  Did they do a biopsy on your fibroid tumor?
