Mystery Illness!! Only prednisone helps!!

I have been on Prednisone for about 5 years on and off. One day I woke up after a long night of partying...I had Asthma like symptoms. Went to my primary doctor, put me on the Prednisone cycle (40 mg for few days, then 30, then 20...and it worked). Few weeks later, the same symptoms came back again since I was off the steroid... he recommended consulting with other specialists...I saw 2 rheumatologists, 2 or 3 lung specialists, Cardiologist. My symptoms worsen if not taking prednisone so I was admitted to the hospital twice to try to find out what was wrong....no luck.
I just realized that i may have a mild case of “Mystery something”!! When it gets too cold and if i am tired or I’ve been partying…the symptoms come back and worsen quickly. When i am rested and trying to be healthy it takes couple months before i have to take the prednisone. I am puzzled.... the pain usually starts by the shoulder, neck areas (Upped body) and works its way down sometimes, which causes my difficulty breathing and a general feeling of getting sick.
I did more research the last few days and i think that i may have a nerve and/or muscle problems (and that the symptoms i get with the difficulty breathing and asthma like symptoms are more like a reaction more than the cause of the problem. I think that i may have some nerve problems in my neck/upper chest...so i think i should go see a Neurologist. I am only saddened and disappointed at all these doctors that only tried to treat my symptoms rather than finding the problems and never directed me to the right doctors...all they cared about is charging the insurance and me with all of these expensive “few dozen” Ct Scans (Which show normal all the time and every time…., Blood work, Different tests and crab with no results...:( but at least for now, i think i have an idea.
Any help, experiences, suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you

You might want to take a look at retroviruses, particuliarly Perron's virus, now called human endogenenous retrovirus W, or HERV-W at specific addresses on chromosomes 6 and 7.

"Calming down" the immune system with prednisone has been the only way at present to deal with the syndromes produced by these infections.

These are endogenous retroviruses which wreak havoc by causing the immune system to go haywire, when awakenen by inflammation. They affect immune genes called human leucocyte antigens (HLA's) ahich are central to our body's ability to detect invading pathogens.

There is a biotech start-up in Geneva called GeNeuro developing treatments for HERV-W. The company has created an antibody that neutralizes a primal viral protein.

They are also investigating the use of artimisinin.
