On again off again syptoms

I have been sick for about the last two weeks and it's gotten worse but I can't see a doctor until Monday unless I go to the ER.  It started Saturday before last with a headache.  This headache litterally lasted all week and was mainly in my riht temple but switched to the left for one day.  Sunday, the next day, is when I got pretty feverish in the evening.  This included weakness, chills, hot face (didn't measure temp, don't have a thermometer).  I slept 12 hours that night and still felt a little under the weather the next day but slept some more and felt pretty much back to normal the next day, though still with headache.

The next Sunday (the 21st I believe)  It hapened again where I felt feverish again with the same syptoms.  This is about where my headache went away.  Again I slept abnormally long and started feeling better the next day.

This last week at work has been awful.  I Felt a little faint and fatiqued and completely distracted at work.  I worked Tues and Wed and had to go home early on Wed because I was just so tired.  I went home and slept for 3 hours (had gotten 8 hours the night before) and again that evening got this terrible fever feeling again.  I slept for ten hours then got up, took a shower (this is yesterday, thanksgiving) and I had to go right back to bed and slept for another two hours. When I woke up I had plans to go over to my parents house for Thanksgiving but it took me an hour to get out of bed bacause I was so weak/low energy.  I just laid around all day then around 3 in the afternoon felt good enough to get up and walk around, then eat dinner with my family.

This last week I haven't had much of an apetite and I've gotten lower leg cramps at work (I'm standing/walking all day) on Tues and today, Friday.  I am not on prescription meds other than Yasmin.  Stool is normal, have been drinking normally (maybe a little more than usual because thought it might be dehydration) and eating a little less, but healthfully.  I also take a multivitamin or drink emergen-C every day.

Thank you for reading and I hope someone can help me piece this together a little more. I will be going to the doctor Monday for bloodwork/tests.  I have been under a little stress at work recently if that helps.

Thanks again

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Feverish feeling with headache is especially seen in viral fevers, dengue, typhoid, malaria, and H1N1 infection. Low grade fever with headache can be due to stress, dehydration, anemia, or tuberculosis. Frontal sinusitis, upper respiratory infections, dental infections etc can also cause headache with fever.
It can also be due to hormonal disturbances like thyroid disorders and diabetes. You could even be having a sleep related problem due to stress.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
Flu symptoms can come and go and if the strain is weak you will feel the symptoms only when you are tired or under stress.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Would the common flu come and go over the course of two weeks?  I only felt sick for a day at a time three different days.

What you may have sounds like Influenza, AKA the common FLU. After all it is flu season. Many people tend to believe that you cannot have the flu unless your vomiting and have stomach pains. This is NOT TRUE. The FLU is communally a fever, headache, back aches/leg pains, shivers/chills, low appetite, weakness and fatigue. If not treated properly the FLU can last more than seven days. In this case you should seek emergency care as soon as possible. Though being a doctor... Ih have used a home remedy for many years that just might do the trick.

Regular tea with lemon, honey, and approximately a teaspoon of brandy.
As crazy as this may sound, the brandy in the tea will help you sweat out any fever, and help ease pain, especially with the tea. Tea is naturally good for you. While drinking the tea, layer up in extra clothes and hide yourself under 2 or 3 blankets, and take a nap. It will get very hot, but like I said this is an easy and quick way to get yourself back on your feet. :)
