@Emily I take allergy pills bc I have an allergy that my doctors don't know what it is, so to prevent an allergy attack I take allergy pills everyday.
Also, I have been medically diagnosed with depression so it couldn't be that. I know my symptoms of when it gets worse and etc.
But, I have to do homework every night bc I follow a block schedule a school and two of my classes in my schedule are everyday.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The allergy pills could be making you sleepy. Low blood sugar, anemia and hypothyroidism could be the other causes. Take proper meals at proper timings. Do not skip breakfast before school. If you do not feel hungry take fruit juice or milk.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination and change of prescription to some anti-allergic which does not make you sleepy.
Hope this helps. Take care!
Well you should eat breakfast. That's a start. BUT being 16 you are growing and that doesn't mean taller( though you could be) but your body is going through changes. That alone can make you tired. I had the same issues at that age. Also the allergy meds can make you drowsey too.
1) what kind of allergy pills are you taking, and why so many. Usually most pills are once a day. So your sleepiness could be that you are taking too many, and/or they may contain ingredients that make your body so tired. My immune system responds very odd to medication, so even with regular allergy pills such as claritin I do get a bit tired.
2) if this just started recently, it could be the change in weather. Usually during colder climates people tend to be a bit more tired than usual.
3) it could also be a medical reason behind that. For example, people with a thyroid problem experience body exhaustion constantly, and it does affect allergies. I am hypothyroid and my allergies are out of control to where like you I sometimes have to take two to three pills (which by the way is dangerous and should not be a common practice).
4) how has been your mood. Could something also be bothering you, worrying you. Sometimes people tend to lose energy in their bodies and daily activity when they find themselves a bit depressed.
Over all, your symptom can be triggered by many factors. The best suggestions I can give you is for you to write down on a piece of paper all you are suffering from, from the most obvious and significant such as constant tiredness, to the small ones less obvious such as uncontrolled allergies even with medication. Then go to a doctor that is open minded and give him your list, and hopefully he can see things, such as a chain of events that can help him/her know what to test you for and God-willing find the answer you are searching for.
I wish you the best of luck and a speedy journey into feeling better and having your energy back to what it should be.
