Pain in morning (didnt know where to post this..)

Since yesterday, ive been waking up really early due to pain in my upper abdomin area, like right under my chest, in the middle; its this sharp, but managable pain that last only a few seconds but come back every two minutes or so untill i get up, today it lasted about 10 minutes, but i went back to sleep but was waken back up by the pain and it lasted another about 15 minutes til when i got up. it only seems to happen in the morning, cause the pain wakes me up. I had this happen a few months ago but it stopped, but now its back. any ideas whats the problem?

It could possibly be extra acid in your stomach.  How long is it since your last meal, when you're waking up in the mornings?  Does it go away when you eat or drink?  If you do have extra acid, when your stomach is empty extra acid production will cause irritation to the lining of your stomach.  If you think this is the cause then try to eat small meals throughout the day and have a very small and bland snack before bed (crackers, rice cakes, celery, etc).  Keep some water by your bed so you can have a sip when you wake up.  There are also some over-the-counter medications you could try to lessen the symptoms as well (Prilosec and similar).  Two things you should avoid during this is chocolate - that will make it much worse - and stress (I know, easier said than done...).  And, of course, getting checked out by a dr. is a very good idea, in case it is something more serious like a gall bladder problem.  Best of luck!
