whatch what food he eats when he does this and keep him from getting to hot.
All my sons labs were good. The doctor did say it was posdible that it was slight case a dehydration so he has to drink 3 more cups of water a day than normal. Though sugar has pretty much been ruled o http://www.southernsavers.com/category/other-grocery-stores/ ut DS has to check his sugar after any event. It was 86 right after he got dizzy yesterday. The doctor also is going to have him wear a heart monitor for 30 days to see if his rythym is off. Sigh...I was hoping this would be something simple.
Well, hypoglycemia can cause you to feel faint and start blacking out. Make sure he's eating plenty of protein at every meal (try an egg for breakfast instead of a pastry, for instance). You could also have him carry some sugar packets or something else really sweet, and have him pour them in his mouth and let the sugar sit there for a while the next time he feels faint. If it is hypoglycemia, the sugar absorbing through the mouth will help.
Dizziness upon standing can be orthostatic hypotension, which is where the blood stays at the level it was when you were sitting for a while after you stand, so there isn't enough for the brain. Clenching your stomach and pushing down like you're straining on the toilet can help push the blood up to the head.
I'm guessing the doctor will want to check out his heart to make sure it isn't causing the issue, but I don't know enough about heart problems to say what the issue could be.
And tell your son that if he thinks he's going to pass out, he should lie down. This helps restore blood flow to the brain, and if you he does pass out, he'll be on the floor anyway, but he'll also have fallen to get there, which can cause bumps and bruises at the very least.
