Problems

I have had the Mirena for almost a year now had a period for about a month when first put it in had trouble with that because they had to push past a fibroid they didnt realize was there.  The a few weeks ago I had terrible stomach cramps for almost a week then on Feb 23 I had a very heavy period out of the blue (havent had one after that first month) I am still spotting and it is March 10, 2009 (enough to have to wear a panty liner) I have checked for the string and I think I feel it but it almost feels as if it is behind a thin layer of skin.  I am wondering if I need to see my doctor.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

Pushing the IUD could have led to the fibroid bleeding. The IUD could not have inserted properly and hence may not be effective. Missing a period and then the period coming again with cramps possibly indicates an abortion. However you could have missed the period due to weakness or a disruption of your cycle. The IUD if not placed properly can perforate your uterus.
Since your symptoms persist consult your gynecologist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi Maria,

Please visit your doctor because you have had this problem for quite a long time. Some problem with your fibroid or any problem inyour endometrium can cause this.

Do keep me posted

Regards
