Severe head pain

For 2 years I have been suffering from a severe pain in the  right side of my head.  This causes a pain in my right eye and ear.  If I sneeze or cough,,,, its as if my brain is rattling around inside my head.  I also suffer from tinitus.  The pain is worse when laying down.          Problems have not been too bad for a few months but in the last week I have caught what might be a cold.  This "cold" appears approx every three months. My nose does not get blocked or run or drip.   I wake during the night with sweat running off me. I feel dizzy, weak, everything I eat and drink tastes horrible, and there seems to be a smell of burning to most food.

In the early stages of this "cold"  I get periods of shivering , I sound as if my nose is stuffed up and I have difficulty talking as if I am gasping for my last breath.
I am male and 59 years old.

Thank you.

I have seen an ENT specialist ans he said there was nothing wrong and that it seemed more like a neurologocal problem.  The pain I have is as I have been smacked on the side of the head with a big plank of wood.

Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to one of the following reasons.

Firstly, please get you blood pressure checked as a high blood pressure can cause similar symptoms.

Secondly, I’ll suggest an ENT surgeon’s examination as even wax build up in the ear can cause similar symptoms.

Thirdly, avoid taking too much painkillers as too much aspirin can cause no only stomach ulcers but also rebound headache and tinnitus.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted.

Kind Regards.
