I am 26 yrs old and I have bad vision in my right and left eye. You know when you come in from the sun and come into the house and you have that flashing well i have that 24 hrs a day and sometimes my right eye gets really bad. I have constant pain in my stomach lower , under belly button and also on the right side of belly button. I also have Diarrhea 4 times a week now. It use to only come every 2 months and with this comes clammy , sweaty skin and lots of pain and I get no relief. Sometimes blood will come out or a mucus. I am light headed almost every single day. I have no energy to speak of. I do not have diabetes i have been tested many times. I have no heart problems I have been tested for that as well. I have head aches 4 times a week. This has taken over my life and I have been menstruating for over 8 months on and off but more on than off. I am on the shot to see if it would stop and it hasnt. I can not do to much work or I will start to bleed outta the blue. I need help badly and everyone but one specialist cannot believe I am this sick for my age.  I need suggestions to what this might be .. is this one big thing or a bunch of small things ? Any ideas ?

keep getting tested for things until you find an answer. did you have these issues before you took the shot? i think the long acting birth control stuff does crazy things to your body. i had hot flashes, diarrhea and crazy bleeding when i was on the shot- and even after i stopped getting it! Nuva ring has been the best birth control for me.

if you get tested for everything, and i mean everything (anemia, thyroid, lower GI tests, etc, etc), you may want to see if you can be tested for lime disease. i say this w/o knowing a lot about you so it could be a complete shot in the dark. but lime disease (you might have it if you've ever had a nymph deer tick on you longer than 24 hours) has a ton of different symptoms and baffles the best doctors since most don't think to test for it.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Generally flashes, streaks of lights and star bursts are due to floating vitreous and less commonly due to aura of migraine and or retinal detachment (this must have been ruled out by retina specialists). Nothing can usually be done for this (floating vitreous) and patient has to learn to live with it.  A migraine type called retinal migraine comes with these flashes only in absence of any noticeable headache. You could be having this and this can persist for hours together every day. Discuss with a migraine specialist.
You could be suffering from an inflammatory bowel condition such as Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease. Parasites in the gut like threadworm, tape worm, giardiasis etc can behave this way. Hence a stool test is a must. Problems of gall bladder and liver or that of pancreas too cannot be ignored. Possibility of H pylori infection should be looked into by carbon urea breath test—this can also cause hot flashes on face.
A number of times a gastroenterologist is able to diagnose these conditions by clinical examination and detailed medical history. At other times a few tests are conducted. Blood tests to rule out anemia, stool test to look for white blood cells, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy etc are used to diagnose ulcerative colitis. Braium meal and follow through, endoscopy etc are done to rule out GERD, Crohn’s disease etc. Irritable bowel syndrome is diagnosed by elimination of other causes. Gluten is a complex protein present in four main grains---wheat, rye, barley and oats. If you have gluten intolerance, then you probably have celiac disease or Non Celiac gluten sensitivity. There are blood tests called celiac test to detect gluten intolerance.
Crohn’s disease is a difficult entity to diagnose. Along with gut symptoms skin disorders and arthritis too are commonly seen with Crohn’s. An upper GI series using barium dye is done to see the condition of small intestines. The degree of involvement of the large and small intestine may vary from person to person.  A biopsy is the most confirmatory. An elevated ESR, low protein, minerals and iron in blood are the other findings in Crohn’s which may or may not be present. A recent advancement in Crohn’s diagnosis is video capsule endoscopy.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
